Anvil-MC can let Bedrock Edition players on phones, tablets, consoles and Windows join your Java Edition server, in the same world as your Java friends. Turn on Bedrock Support and the app installs and configures Geyser and Floodgate for you. This guide covers which servers support it, how to turn it on, how Bedrock players join, and what changes with Bedrock 26.60 and NetherNet in Anvil-MC 2.0.6.
How cross-play works
Geyser translates between the Bedrock and Java protocols, so a Bedrock client can talk to a Java server. Floodgate lets Bedrock players join with their Microsoft account alone, so they do not need to own Java Edition. Anvil-MC sets both up, keeps them up to date and connects them to your server's public address. There is nothing to edit in a config file and no port to forward.
Which servers support Bedrock Support
- Plugin servers: Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Folia and Bukkit. Geyser runs as a plugin.
- Mod servers: Fabric and NeoForge. Geyser runs as a mod, and the option only appears when Geyser has a build for your server's Minecraft version.
Forge, Vanilla and Pumpkin servers cannot run Geyser. If everyone in your group plays Bedrock, you do not need Geyser at all: a native Bedrock server with PowerNukkitX lets Bedrock clients connect directly.
Turning on Bedrock Support
- Open the Anvil-MC app and tap the settings button on your server.
- Go to the Network section and turn on Bedrock Support. You can also turn it on while creating a new server.
- Start the server. On that start, Anvil-MC installs and configures Geyser and Floodgate. On older Minecraft versions it also adds ViaVersion, and on Fabric it adds Fabric API.
Once the server is online, your server card shows two addresses: JAVA IP for Java players and BEDROCK IP for Bedrock players.
How Bedrock players join
- In Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, go to Play, then Servers, and select Add Server.
- Enter the address shown next to BEDROCK IP in the Server Address field.
- Enter the number shown after Port in Bedrock's own Port field, not on the end of the address.
The Bedrock address is not the same as the Java address, so do not give Bedrock players the JAVA IP. The share button on the server card sends the right address to each player, and Bedrock players can scan its QR code to add the server in one step.
Players on the same Wi-Fi. Bedrock players on the same network as your phone see the server under Friends, in the LAN Games list. They can also add it with the Wi-Fi address shown next to BEDROCK IP when the server runs without a tunnel.
If the server is asleep because nobody was online, a Bedrock player trying to join wakes it up, the same way a Java player does. Their first attempt will not get in; once the server is back up, they join again.
Bedrock 26.60 and NetherNet
From Bedrock 26.60, released on 27 October 2026, Bedrock clients connect to servers only over Mojang's new NetherNet protocol. The old RakNet connection that Geyser servers used until now no longer works for those players. Anvil-MC 2.0.6 moves your servers to NetherNet for you:
- Nothing to change. Anvil-MC switches Geyser to NetherNet automatically. Your Bedrock address stays the same, so players keep the server they already saved.
- No trust prompt over the internet. Joins through the Anvil-MC tunnel are secured with HTTPS, so Minecraft does not ask players to trust the server first. A player who joins by your phone's Wi-Fi address may see a one-time "Trust on First Use?" question. That is expected; they confirm it once.
- Geyser stays up to date. Anvil-MC checks for new Geyser and Floodgate builds at most once a day and installs them on the next start. Each Bedrock update needs a matching Geyser build, so this keeps Bedrock players joining after every Minecraft update.
- Your IP stays private. NetherNet can connect players directly to a server, but Anvil-MC routes every internet player through the tunnel, as before. Players never see your phone's own IP address.
Fabric and NeoForge on older Minecraft versions. On Fabric and NeoForge, Geyser only supports NetherNet from Minecraft 26.3. On an older Minecraft version, your server keeps working for Bedrock players whose game is still older than 26.60, but players on 26.60 or newer cannot join until you update the server to 26.3 or newer on the Software page. Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Folia and Bukkit servers are not affected: one Geyser plugin covers every version from 1.13.2.
Good to know
- Voice chat: Bedrock Support and Simple Voice Chat use the same tunnel port, so only one of them can be on at a time.
- Whitelist: you can add Bedrock players to the whitelist by their gamertag.
- Not everything matches: Geyser is very good, but a few Java-only features, such as some custom menus, can look different on Bedrock.
